God Made Marriage: More Than A Valentine Day Card

Marriage is God’s design so that you may experience the reflection of His love for you with the one you love. Throughout the bible, God talks about the bride and the groom. This is no coincidence.

God is emphasizing His desire for us to enter into and remain in a strong, loving relationship with Him and your spouse.

He loves marriage so much that His very first act after the creation of this world was to make man in His image, and then quickly unite him with his “helper,” Eve. This was the very first marriage.

God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Genesis 1:27

Now look a bit further into the very first book of the bible. Man was not, nor ever meant to be alone. God created us, He knows His desire for our existence. He wants us to enter into a committed relationship with another.

That’s why He created woman. Not as his competition, his ball-and-chain, or his late night friend with benefit. She is man’s helper.

And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Genesis 2:18

Also, the word “helper” doesn’t imply secondary or assistant. In Hebrew, helper as it’s used in Genesis is ezer (pronounced “ay-zer”). It literally means vitally important and powerful acts of rescue and support.

Does that describe your wife?

Let her know how vitally important she is to you today and every day. You are both blessed to be living in the very model God created for us. Let’s make sure we honor it as such.

God Bless You,

Scott
